Green Acton has endorsed the development of more public transportation within and beyond Acton, for its environmental benefits and its role in creating more-connected communities. Locally, public transit takes several forms.
CrossTownConnect
Acton supports the CrossTownConnect partnership (which includes Acton, Boxborough, Maynard, and Littleton). Several services operate under the CTC umbrella, including shuttle transportation between the South Acton Commuter Rail station and satellite sites in town, the Road Runner van, the Council on Aging Senior Van, and the MinuteVan. Additionally, fixed-route service is provided through CAT — Cross-Acton Transit. Visit CrossTownConnect for details.
South Acton Commuter Rail Station
Green Acton was involved in supporting a South Acton Commuter Rail Station design that fit well with its historical and architectural surroundings. Local activists, town staff, and legislators worked with the state and the MBTA to achieve that goal. Parking at the station is at a premium, so we have supported off-site parking alternatives, such as the MinuteVan rail shuttle. See www.minutevan.net for details.
