Individual development projects, proposed by the Town or by builders, are the place where the priorities of sustainability can run most strongly counter to the pressures of the profit motive or notions that more growth is helpful to Acton. They are also a place where citizen involvement is often most strongly felt, whether out of simple NIMBYism (“Not In My Backyard”), or larger notions of the harm or benefit of a particular development. Often, Green Acton committees or members are involved in advocating for or against particular projects.
Monthly Green Acton Meetings are usually on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Acton Memorial Library. This is a great way to meet other Green Acton members and plug in to the work we are doing.
