Tuesday, July 13, 2021 • 6pm • IN REAL LIFE at the Acton Arboretum
A bit different from our usual monthly meetings, this meeting was designed to be a tad more relaxed, with no big decisions to make, and IN REAL LIFE!
(And remember, as is the Green Acton tradition, there will be no August meeting.)
Real Life Attendees: Chris Edwards, Song Leav, Sue Jick, Jiun Park, Mike Boss, Karen Root Watkins, Danny Factor, Kim Kastens, Debra Simes, Terra Friedrichs
Attending via Zoom: Jim Snyder-Grant (aka “Little Jim”)
Sue = facilitator
Welcome + Volunteer acknowledgments + thanks
We thanked volunteers Jiun Park and Song Leav, and gave them tokens of our gratitude (a book + gift card to West Side Creamery). Jim and Kim, with whom they worked, respectively, each made remarks about the ABRHS students’ contributions to GA.
Shared Appreciations
We took some time to appreciate each other and what we do for GA.
Town Meeting debrief/go-round
A review of the several great outcomes at June’s Town Meeting. Various people noted these articles that they considered “wins”: (1) passage of the Building with Clean Energy articles (with a huge margin), (2) passage of the Low Income Community Shared Solar Facility article, (3) passage of the purchase of an Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) for the 51.5 acre Stonefield farm parcel (which is being purchased by Boston Area Gleaners/BAG), (4) defeat of the Strawberry Hill Road article, (5) defeat of the drive-up window article, and (6) momentum on expectations for the Planning Board, despite the article’s defeat.
NOTE FOR ADMIN: figure out how best to reach out and establish relationship with BAG
Committee budget request announcement
Committee budget requests are due TODAY; email budget committee or Debra.
Admin/Org Committee transparency and accessibility invitation
The Admin/Org Committee has noted some curiosity? concern? idle wonderings? About how Admin works, creates agendas, keeps track of the organization, etc. So an invite: if anyone wants to attend a cycle (month) of Admin meetings (2–3, on Fridays, usually 10:30am), please let admin (or Sue, Debra, and/or Jim) know. The committee is happy to have you meet with us!
