A number of Massachusetts towns already require this information from any private haulers doing business within their borders. This information is needed to make any policy recommendations about trash and recycling beyond the Transfer Station.
A simple change in permitting requirements for private haulers would bring Acton information on tonnages for trash and recycling in the same format in which the town is already required to gather and report to the state. Green Acton is monitoring progress on the Town’s movement toward such a requirement.
